YEAR Six Brownie Nur Syaz Reena Ramli felt sad when she first saw the videos and photos on the disastrous Japan earthquake and tsunami.
That led the SK Sungai Nibong pupil to join the school’s 35 Brownies in their fund-raising effort for the Girl Guides-Maybank Disaster Relief Fund.
“I used to think that as a child, I cannot do anything to help the needy.
“But now I feel proud to be part of the donation drive to help the victims,” she said while carrying two tin cans and walking around the school compound recently.
Nur Syaz encouraged teachers and pupils to play their part in contributing towards the victims.
Headmistress Che Maheran Maina said she was deeply touched by the pupils’ kind-hearted effort in donating their pocket money for the fund.
“I told the pupils not to underestimate the good deeds. Every single coin that was put into the tin can will reach Japan,” she said.
The Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is also Girl Guides Association Malaysia president, launched the relief fund nationwide on March 18.
