Kelantan
Norfarhan Mohamad (left), Indra Putra Mahayuddin and Azizi Matt Rose (inset) have returned to Kelantan after a season with T-Team.

Fernandes, it is understood, reached a verbal agreement with Kelantan FA president Tan Sri Annuar Musa for QPR to face the Super League champions next June or July if details can be worked out.

Annuar revealed this in a posting on his Facebook page on Friday but there remains several significant hurdles to overcome, not least the need to upgrade the Sultan Mohammed IV Stadium to international standard.

"My friend Tan Sri Tony Fernandes indicated to me that he is prepared to bring his EPL club Queens Park Rangers to Kelantan," said Annuar in his post. "This could be a dream come true. QPR coming!

"Get our house/ground ready! Please, please. The Sultan Mohammed IV Stadium must be ready to receive world guests. The team (Kelantan) must be good. Stadium must be in order. Can we?"

The stadium issue has taken on added significance since Kelantan qualified for the AFC Cup for the first time but face the prospect of playing their  three home Group F games either in Bukit Jalil or Shah Alam,

The Asian Football Confederation has decreed the Kota Baru stadium does not meet its requirements with poor lighting, lack of an electronic scoreboard and security being of particular concern.

"We want to be able to host the AFC Cup matches in Kota Baru. But the question is can we play here if we cannot meet AFC's requirements. For instance, the lighting must be 1,200 lux but at present it is only 800 lux.

"The scoreboard was supposed to be installed a year ago. Although it seems trivial, it still has not been done.

"We must have a stadium for Kelantan fans to watch football.

"If not we will have to find alternatives such as the National Stadium or Shah Alam Stadium," Annuar was quoted by kelate.net

Kelantan have serious intentions in the AFC Cup, to the extent of hiring four foreign players although only two can play in domestic competitions and rehiring Peter Butler as coach despite his abrupt departure just before the start of the 2009 Malaysia Cup.

Lebanon forward Mohammed Ghadar and Ghanian midfielder Denny Antwi will play in all competitions while midfielders Emmanuel Okine of Ghana and Zakaria Charara of Lebanon will be restricted to AFC Cup duty.

The trio of Azizi Matt Rose, Norfarhan Mohamad and Indra Putra Mahayuddin, who left for T-Team in controversial fashion earlier this year, have returned while striker Azlan Ismail moved from Kedah in the other significant transfers.
